My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What my friends at ACC say about me:

My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!

It is unknown if I have ever lived with other animals or children.

I am playful and cute!

A volunteer writes: Amigo 🧡 for two months I have watched Amigo in his kennel. Once scrawny, he is now plump and beefy. Once riddled with missing patches of fur, his coat now gleams save some patches along his back. Once yellow where he should be white, he's a perfect black and white cookie.

One thing we will never know about Amigo is what brought him to a police precinct over 2 months ago in August. But we know plenty about him to make up for that loss. He's a social boy, and walkable by even our newest volunteers. Now at a healthy weight, his love of snacks is unwavering. He has been used as a greeter dog to see how new dogs at the shelter feel around other dogs, and though he could use some practice taking social cues he's done very well, and he's been thanked for his service in snackies and extra time out of his kennel.

The biggest mystery that remains is why he's been overlooked. His kennel manner is impeccable, always relaxing on his bed and lifting his head to see if you've come by to take him out or share snacks. He's available to most homes, just ones without young kids as he jumps.

A volunteer writes: Amigo means friend in Spanish and that is exactly who Amigo is - a great buddy who just wants to share his unconditional love. I had the pleasure of spending a few hours leisurely with Amigo at a recent mobile adoption event. Amigo happily greeted everyone who showered him with pets and praises, and took treats gently. Amigo also showed off his sit and treat catching skills. We took walks and he did so well on all the walks. He did notice certain dogs but did not react.

Because Amigo is eager to shower his love, he can be jumpy sometimes specially if someone will crouch down or sit. This would be his area of improvement with consistent training and love so he learns to minimize this impulse. Other than that, Amigo is a wonderful canine buddy to hang and to take a walk with.
