Meet Harry & Harriet – A Pair of Shy, Sweet Siblings

Harry and Harriet are a dynamic duo of 1-year-old siblings who joined the rescue as strays, and they're looking for a home where they can blossom at their own pace. These two are still warming up to the world around them, especially with new people, and often prefer to hide when there are strangers in the house. But once they feel safe, their unique personalities shine through.

Harriet is an independent spirit who loves her routine, especially when it comes to mealtime. She’s a fan of wet food and can get a bit impatient when it's not served fast enough—don’t let her shyness fool you; she knows what she wants! Harriet enjoys her space but will definitely show you affection once she’s comfortable with you.

Harry, on the other hand, is a cuddle lover! He’s often found cozying up on his human’s lap at the most unexpected times, like during a quiet bathroom break. Harry has a quirky love for drinking water straight from the bathroom faucet, and he’s always up for snuggling in bed. While he prefers kibble over wet food, he’s just as sweet as can be. Harry will let you know when he’s had enough of petting with a gentle swat or a love bite, but it’s all part of his charm!

Harry and Harriet are currently living in a home with several other cats and two small dogs, and while they may be a bit shy at first, they are friendly with their furry companions. With patience and love, these two sweethearts are sure to grow into the affectionate companions you’ve been looking for. If you’re looking for a pair of cats who will make you smile with their quirky behaviors and sweet moments, Harry and Harriet might be just the right fit for you!

Meet Harry, the shy yet sweet silver tabby who’s making great strides toward becoming the loving companion he was always meant to be! Harry has come a long way since his days as a stray. Though he's still a bit cautious around new faces, Harry is slowly learning to trust and is becoming more confident in his foster home. He’s now been given full access to the house and has found comfort in following his foster mom around as she does her morning chores, like tending to the litter boxes. He’s even learned to curl up on the bed — that is, when the dog lets him!

With his soft silver-gray fur, a little sprinkle of white on his belly and paws, and those big, curious eyes, Harry is an endearing and quiet kitty. He enjoys the simple pleasures in life, like playing with the resident cats and discovering new spots to explore. While he’s still shy around strangers and will often disappear when new people arrive, Harry’s progress with his foster mom has been wonderful. He’s starting to enjoy the gentle touch of a pet and can often be found snuggled up under the blankets, soaking in the warmth and comfort of his safe space.

Harry is a curious soul who thrives in quieter environments. With a little patience and plenty of love, he’ll continue to grow and blossom into a loyal and affectionate companion. If you have a cozy corner and a tender heart to offer, Harry might just be the perfect addition to your family. Ready to give him the time and space he needs to truly flourish? Harry is waiting for a home to call his own!

Go meet their pets

Ruff Start Rescue is a foster-based rescue, meaning no animals are available at the Princeton, MN office for public viewing or adoption. All animals in our care reside in foster homes with few special exceptions for our adoption center animals, who are housed at our partnering facilities temporarily before adoption. To meet a Ruff Starter you may be interested in adopting, please submit an adoption application on our website.

More about this rescue

Ruff Start Rescue is a foster-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit companion animal rescue that primarily serves communities throughout the state of Minnesota, as well as states in the south with severe pet overpopulation. We rescue stray, neglected, abandoned, and surrendered dogs and cats as well as ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits, and other critters. Most of our work is accomplished by a complex network of volunteers, fosters, and supporters, all of whom come together to save thousands of animals each year.

Since our inception, we’ve firmly believed that a home is usually a far more desirable environment than a shelter or a kennel for most companion animals in need of a forever family. As a result, we rely nearly exclusively on volunteers to provide foster homes for rescued pets until they find their adoptive homes. Please note: this means no animals are available at our facility for public viewing.

Each pet in our care is provided with routine vaccinations, spay/neuter procedures, microchipped, given internal and external parasite preventatives, and tested for common bloodborne pathogens such as heartworm and feline leukemia. Advanced veterinary care is provided to any animal that requires such services before adoption.

If you are interested in fostering, adopting, or volunteering, please fill out an applicable application at our website: www.ruffstartrescue.org.
