Background: Jelly is one of the 21 brave dogs rescued from a dog meat farm in Anseong, Korea, this spring. Since his rescue, he has been living with other dogs at our partner boarding house, where he's been waiting for his forever home.
Personality and Socialization: Jelly earned his sweet name because he truly embodies it – he’s soft, sweet, and mellow. With a medium energy level, Jelly is incredibly friendly and gentle. He gets along well with other gentle and friendly dogs but can be a bit timid around dominant or overly energetic ones. His love for people shines through, as his favorite activity is hanging out with his humans. Jelly loves to snuggle and shower you with affection – he’s a big, lovable cuddle bug.
Behaviors: Despite his young age, Jelly is a fast learner. He pays close attention and is eager to please his humans. He’s comfortable with car rides, baths, and nail clipping, patiently allowing his humans to take care of him. While he doesn’t have experience with cats or young children, his adaptable nature suggests he could learn to coexist peacefully with the right introduction.
Health: Jelly is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on his vaccinations. He also takes monthly preventatives for internal and external parasites. He’s a healthy boy, ready and eager to find his forever home.
Ideal Home: Jelly’s ideal adopter is someone who works from home or is retired, with plenty of time to spend with him. He thrives on human companionship and loves nothing more than to snuggle and be close to his people. A home where he can receive all the attention, love, and care he deserves would be perfect for him.
If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will fill your days with love and joy, Jelly is the dog for you. Adopt Jelly and let him be the sweet, snuggly addition to your family!

Free Korean Dogs (FKD) is a registered charity in Canada (BN:80580 0166RR0001).
Founded in Toronto, Canada on July 1st, 2015, our organization rescues dogs from Korea’s dog meat trade and other at-risk circumstances and finds their forever-loving homes in Canada and the US.
Millions of dogs are slaughtered for meat consumption in Korea every year. Most of them are kept in tiny, overcrowded cages in dog meat farms provided no water or shelter from the elements, and given only scraps of waste to eat. It is also common practice for dogs to be brutally tortured before slaughter as it is believed to enhance flavor and nutritional healing properties, despite an overwhelming lack of evidence to support these claims.
Korea is the only country in the world that commercially farms dogs for food. The lack of legislation regulating the Korean dog meat trade results in the lack of standards for safety or humane treatment. Simply speaking, dogs can be obtained by any means, whether stray or farmed and treated in unfathomable inhumane manners without consequence. The dog meat trade in Korea is a legislative gray area and political landmine that nobody in power wants to address.
Our international rescue and adoption program saves over hundreds of dogs each year from the Korean dog meat trade and finds their homes in Canada. Since 2015, we have shut down two dog meat farm operations, rescued over two hundred dogs from the dog meat trade, and found forever homes for over seven hundred dogs rescued from euthanasia or the risk of being forced into the meat trade.
We also promote public awareness to create a cultural shift from cruelty to compassion for dogs in Korea through campaigns, protests, and events. Through rescue, rehabilitation, and education, we hope one day all dogs and animals can lead peaceful and happy lives.
