My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hunter is a 1 year old, about 50ish lb, male Golden Retriever puppy looking for a family who has the time and patience to work with him by giving him the exercise and direction a typical Golden Retriever puppy needs! He is an active boy looking for an active home as a tired puppy is a good puppy!

Hunter is adorable and very energetic... exactly about what you would expect from a one-year-old golden retriever puppy who needs a family who can give him the attention and training he requires to be a well behaved boy. Hunter is very friendly, and thrives on attention. With a little love and affection, he settles down and is very happy to sit and be petted as long as you will love on him. A fenced in yard where he can run and play, and maybe even a playmate with his same activity level would be good for Hunter! Hunter is crate-trained and is in there while his people are away, and he sleeps in it at night as he is not trustworthy to have run of the house just yet. One of our GRRAND volunteers says: " I spent the afternoon with Hunter and can attest that he is a sweet and loving boy.  Yes, he is energetic and curious, but nothing out of the norm for a 1 year old Golden puppy.  He just needs time to get settled in a loving home with a fenced in backyard to explore. He seems to like other dogs and I think he is highly trainable, especially on a leash.  I had no trouble with him on a leash.  Sure, he pulled but he responded to redirection and it wasn't excessive".

Anyone looking for a dog his age and size will be lucky to get him! If you feel you have the time to give to Hunter along with exercise and direction to suit his needs, please fill out an app at GRRAND.org

More about this rescue

Early in 1994, members of the Greater Louisville Golden Retriever Club began to see the need for an organization to rehabilitate and find homes for displaced and abused Golden Retrievers. A number of folks in this club began organizing an ad hoc rescue group. As the number of rescues increased over a period of months, this “wet behind the ears” group came up with a name and in 1996, incorporated the organization now known as Golden Retriever Rescue & Adoption of Needy Dogs (GRRAND). The rest, as they say, is history!
