My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pepper loves to be by your side and doesn't really think being alone is cool. So much so, bathroom privacy doesn't even mean much to her. She'll be happy to scratch at the closed door notifying you of your accidental error in judgement.

Pepper would be fine as an only dog or to fill out a household with other friendly pups to be her siblings. She would definitely do best in a home and not an apartment, condo or townhome...those shared walls may hear her beautiful bark more often than they may like. She actually spends most of her day relaxing in her foster mom's office, sleeping or chewing on an antler or yak chew.

This shiny black onyx of a girl is good with all dogs, kiddos and kitties!! She has that easy-loveable personality. She is already house trained, crate trained, good walking on a leash, loves car rides and the list goes on. No fence; no worries...Pepper is happy to hang with her people and be a bit of a couch potato! What more could you really ask for?

Her deep appreciation for her human makes you feel truly cherished. She will only ask for the same devotion and affection for her in return. She does have some seperation anxiety and being with her people really makes her happy. You can expect some initial barking when she is left in her crate, so someone who is home a good amont of the time is best for Pepper. She is happy to sleep on her bed or snuggled up in bed with you, so that's a great option.

Pepper has some cute wrinkles that make her extra cute. She is new to our rescue and is being treated for some skin condition. She is doing well and her beautiful black, furry body is filling in nicely. We are currently checking on her spay status and she will be spayed before adoption. She is going to be such an amazing companion - her foster mom just loves her dearly!

As part of Pepper’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Pepper, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

1. Review the description of the pet you are interested in to make sure that the information we have fits with your particular needs and desires. In most cases, the information on the website is current and gives the information that we have about the particular pet. The picture of the pet does not tell the whole story.

2. Complete the adoption application at https://pawsforlifenc.org. Please make sure that you give us as much information about yourself as you can. List all animals currently living with you including other dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and rodents. The application needs to be complete in order to help us determine if the pet you have chosen is a good match for your home.

3. Once the application is submitted we will contact you, your references, and your vet.

4. We require a home visit prior to dog adoptions.

5. If more than one person applies, we will go with the BEST fit. If all things are equal, we go in the order the applications were received.

6. Once the home visit has been completed, you will be asked to complete an adoption agreement.

7. The adoption fee is $325 for dogs under 6 months, $300 for 6 months and older. The adoption fee is $125 for kittens under 1 year ($225 for 2 kittens), $85 for cats 1 year and older. This fee helps us to provide the necessary medical care and other needs for the pets while in foster care.

8. All Paws For Life NC pets are spayed or neutered if old enough, current on shots, micro chipped, and to our knowledge, in good health before they are adopted out. Puppies under 6 months of age will require a $100 refundable spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee and a special puppy spay/neuter agreement. Kittens under 6 months will require a $50 refundable spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee. We are all volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for our work with the pets. The adoption fee is used to help defray costs in the rescue and care of the pets.

9. Congratulations! You are on your way to having your new companion. We hope that you and your new companion share a life of love and happiness. We welcome any comments you may wish to give us about your pet at any time.
