My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zorro is a 2 year old male bearded dragon. He is a gentle giant with a sweet personality. He came to us recently as an owner surrender when his owner realized they couldn't provide him the upgrades he needed. Zorro being a big boy is more than ready for an enclosure size upgrade. He needs at least a 4x2x2 enclosure (which we recommend for ALL adult beardies). He will also require a t5 10.0 or 12% linear UVB, multiple hides, a basking spot and basking lamp, decor, and some items for enrichment. He eats very well on dark leafy greens and veggies, superworms, dubia roaches and hornworms. Zorro is doing very well so far in foster but would absolutely love a big new enclosure to run around in and someone to snuggle during the day.

All of our dogs, cats, rabbits & ferrets are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Small animals are usually not altered. We have adoption applications, a short interview process, and an adoption fee for each animal. All animals (except rabbits & small animals) are up to date on all shots.

We hold adoption events on Saturdays at Petsmart in Mishawaka from 11-3. We also hold other events throughout the year. Heartland Small Animal Rescue Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving South Bend, IN and surrounding towns by taking in homeless pets and adopting them out into loving homes. We also work closely with local shelters to reduce euthanasia rates by pulling animals and putting them in our program.
