Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Guinness is a shy and undersocialized big puppy who was found stray in the mountains with his brother. He is kind and gentle by nature and very similar in personality to his brother but a little braver about people. Given some space and time, he warms up to humans and comes seek pets around his ears and chin and sometimes on his head. He is learning to play with toys and seems to like stuff to chew on. He likes to spend some time in the kiddie pool.
A home is a brand-new environment to Guinness, but he is adjusting. He enjoys lying in the shade of a tree and loves to play with other dogs of all sizes. Inside he still gets to be supervised and kept from engaging in puppy antics. Already he will alert to go outside to potty. He knows to lie down in the kennel at bedtime. His foster mom is working on getting him over his fear of the leash and not spook at all loud and strange noises.
We don’t know how he is with cats or with children.
He will need a home with a fenced yard.
Guinness was estimated to be around 8 months old at the beginning of August. He is a large dog, approx. 70 lbs is a guess, tall and lean. His breeds are unknown but he looks like he has some sighthound in him and moves like a Scottish deerhound or Afghan or something like that. He also has that quiet demeanor often seen on those breeds.

Since we are a foster based rescue and don’t have a shelter all meet and greets must be scheduled and walk-ins are not an option. We will travel throughout the Treasure Valley and surrounding areas/states if that means the dog will find their forever home! When we host adoption/community events we will always post them on our Facebook Page Northern Star Dog Rescue.

More about this rescue
We are Northern Star Dog Rescue, a completely foster based non profit dog rescue! We specifically pull all of our dogs from the euthanasia list (most are there due to no fault of their own) and dogs that are homeless or in bad housing conditions. We take them in and place them in foster homes until we can find them their forever homes! We do what we do because our team has a STRONG love for animals especially those that are in dire situations.
