My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application.
Please do not call the shelter; do the application first.

Introducing Seneca. This lovely girl found herself living at an abandoned home, and luckily someone stumbled across her and brought her to the shelter. In spite of advertising, no owner has come to claim her, so it's time for Seneca to find a forever home.

Best guess for Seneca's breed mix? Maybe Border Collie/Heeler, with who knows what other adorableness mixed in. She weighs about 35 pounds, with an estimated age of about 3 years.

Seneca has shown herself to be good with some other polite dogs (though not a fan of dominant female dogs), and is selective about her dog friends. If you have a dog currently, we will have you bring them to the shelter in Republic to meet Seneca prior to adoption. She is submissive to cats (one must have taught her about the pointy-ends of cats at some time in the past!), and loves all the staff and volunteers.

Typically, abandoned dogs like Seneca arrive at the shelter without housetraining, and that applies to Seneca too - but her understanding of housetraining improves daily, so she's well on her way to total success!

We've discovered that she doesn't care about water or swimming at all, so if you want a water dog, she's not the one. If you want a dog that won't smell like a swamp creature all summer long, Seneca says "choose me!"

Seneca exhibits some minimal shyness and timidity, a frequent side effect of neglect/abandonment, so we'd recommend homes with a more "zen-like" atmosphere, older and/or quieter children (if any), and the patience to allow her to blossom at her own rate. She is already very grateful to have been rescued, and will be overjoyed to have an actual home of her own.

All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Seneca is a suggested minimum of $125 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts.

Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
