My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Serena came to Longmeadow as an owner surrender in the summer of 2024. This beautiful mare settled into life at the Ranch quickly. After she completed her 30-day routine qurantine, she was ready to be evaluated by our trainers!

Upon evaluation, our trainers found this 26-year-old Paint mare to be relatively calm and collected. She was evaluated in our indoor arena among other horses and stayed quiet and focused, following her handler carefully. Because of this noteable temperament, our trainers believe Serena has had lots of training experience in her past.

Our trainers also found that with inexperienced handlers, Serena tends to be pushy on the ground. She is adament about doing things her own way, and needs consistent correction when negative behaviors arise. While she has never kicked out, popped up, or shown any major signs of protest on the ground, we still believe she would do best with a confident intermediate handler that can continue to use positive reinforcement to train these behaviors out of her.

Although she may need some assistance with certain unwanted behaviors, Serena is full of positive attributes as well! She is great with fly spray and picking up her feet. She stands nicely for the farrier and loads in a trailer like a pro! Her beautiful color and stunning paint features make her a looker, and she is in great shape for her age! Our trainers really enjoyed evaluating her, and they believe she would make a cute lead line horse for a child!
