Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Description
McCarty is a red poofy furrball with gold undertones who looks like and has the character of a Shiba Inu, but is bigger.
Personality
McCarty is a loverboy who gives gentle kisses, and would be happy to receive your caresses the whole day long. He wants affection and if he sees your hand or your lap he positions his head in an accessible way for you to most easily stay in physical touch him. He is not a velcro dog and loves to go into his crate for quiet time by himself, but if he sees you giving attention to another dog he comes running! Don't forget to pay him attention too or will get jealous. Shiba Inus are not known for being especially cuddly, but McCarty smashes that stereotype. He can be stubborn like a Shiba Inu though. He stares up at you with his big brown eyes to encourage you not to stop with the pets. You won't want to stop bc he has the softest fuzziest ears and fur. His finders said he is a sweet guy, who would eat gently out of your hand when he lived on the street. He is also smart and obedient and knows his
Background
McCarty was found outside of an industrial business on the NE side of Houston off McCarty street. He was a stray there for a few weeks in the middle of a cold snap in winter. Employees gave him a covered box with blankets as the best they could do for him. The daughter of his finders is a vet who got him vaccinated and transfered him to a GNAR foster home. He was skinny and beat up and had deep lacerations from dog fights. He needed a long recovery time with his foster home to heal his wounds and learn to trust other dogs again. He now loves to play and wrestle with other dogs and welcomes new females and fixed male dogs without hesitation. He is still scared of new intact male dogs who have not been neutered, but will come around to being best friends after being properly introduced.
