Introducing Lakota
Keycha and Lakota are big, gentle boys who were surrendered when their heartbroken owner could no longer care for them. We promised they would find fantastic homes (they can go together, but do not have to), and these big loveable guys should fit in really well just about anywhere.
They are 4 year old Labrador/Heeler/Husky mixes, and are housetrained and know basic commands.
Keycha (red/white) is the more outgoing of the two, and weighs a bit over 80 pounds.
Lakota (white/black) can be a little bit skittish when meeting new people and dogs, but he calms down and adjusts quickly. He weighs about 75 pounds.
These Very Good Boys are lower energy and non-demanding. They are affectionate, love attention, would enjoy lying by the woodstove or at your feet while you watch the Seahawks this fall.
Their former owner reports both are good with cats (we have not formally tested this, and will do so if you have a kitty in the family), children, and other dogs - though Lakota will sometimes try to herd children (the heeler is strong in this one, ha), and is initially a bit leery of strange dogs in his space. Once he gets to know them, he's fine.
These boys combine affection with independence, and their lower energy and relaxed nature makes them about as close to a "plug and play" dog as you could get. If you are wanting TWO dogs, here's a great chance to get two that already get along!
All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee is a suggested minimum of $125 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts.
Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
