Rex von Remscheid is a striking-looking, 7-8 month-old German Shepherd mix. Rex is a true sweetheart with a heart of gold. This happy-go-lucky boy loves nothing more than to snuggle up on your lap and receive endless pets, especially on his soft belly. With his mid-energy level, he’s the perfect companion for walks, playtime or quiet evenings at home. Rex is a quick learner who knows basic commands like "sit" and takes treats gently. He's a social butterfly who enjoys meeting new people and dogs, making him a great addition to any family. (No cats please.)

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
