My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Sandy was brought in by her previous owner on June 15, 2024.

Why Sandy is the one for you:
Meet Sandy, a sweet companion who's bursting with energy and affection. Sandy is seeking an active family who can keep up with her zest for life and provide plenty of human interaction. In return, she will hop into your lap for pets and share her unconditional love. Sandy enjoys adventures and does well in the car, however, on a leash she may exhibit reactive behavior toward other dogs such as barking and jumping. Sandy would thrive in a home that can manage these behaviors with tools like a Sensation Harness and positive reinforcement training, along with appropriate mental and physical enrichment. If you'd like to meet Sandy, grab a collar and leash and visit our Escondido Campus today!

Dog-Reactive: This pet requires a virtual behavior consult for dog-reactive behavior, please watch THIS VIDEO to learn more about them.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
