A volunteer writes: Harlow sits in the middle of four other gray-and-white pitties in our adoptions room, making it easy to overlook her amid a sea of similar dogs: She's not a puppy but not a senior, and she's usually resting quietly on her bed and not clamoring for attention. But Harlow is indeed a special girl, one who has quickly opened up to staff and volunteers and gained lots of confidence since being found as a stray tied up in the park in July. (Her cute bat ears and outrageously fun smile don't hurt either.)
While she understandably arrived fearful and a bit shut down, she has now warmed up to the point that she is walkable by even the shelter's newest volunteers! We can only imagine how much more she'll blossom once she's in a loving, stable home. On walks, Harlow is all business, sniffing away and always eager to keep on going at your pace; we think she could be a great jogging or hiking buddy. Every so often she'll check in, happy to receive a treat or some pets. She's also extremely housebroken.
Because we don't know anything about Harlow's past, she is recommended to go to a calm, quiet home without children under 13. Though she hasn't shown reactivity when passing other dogs in their kennels or on the street (and even ignored a stray cat on our walk!), she was fearful when introduced to a female dog at the shelter two days after she arrived. Primary Color: Gray Weight: 59.6 Age: 2yrs 3mths 2wks
