My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Dobby! Dobby is a sweet little dog who was found himself in an overcrowded, high-kill shelter and showed that he is the sweetest boy. Dobby was found running around confused on the streets in New Mexico, before being picked up and put into the shelter. Someone also claimed that they witnessed a car pull into a dirt lot and set him outside of the car and drive away.

It's so sad how horribly people treat animals. Despite all this sweet boy has been through, he LOVES affection and cuddles along with other dogs big and small.

Dobby is believed to be a Pug / Chihuahua mix. He is 1 year old, and just 12 lbs.

Dobby is a very happy, wiggly guy, and he’s ready to start his new life in Colorado.

We envision Dobby with either an active, dog-crazy retired couple or individual, or younger family that works from a home. We feel that he is too social a guy to be left alone for the long hours of full-time employment outside of the home.

Being a young and super-smart guy, Dobby will love physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. He would be a natural in positive reinforcement / force- free group obedience classes. These classes are so important in bonding as well as teaching a dog the skills (in a very positive way) to understand boundaries and commands. This creates a well-behaved partner out in the community. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person force-free / positive reinforcement trainers in your area.

Dobby has been fully vetted, and is up to date on his vaccines. He is not yet neutered, however Farfel’s covers the full cost of his neuter, which is required to finalize any adoption.

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.
