My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Smokey is a super friendly 10-year-old Russian Blue mix. He is a social gentleman and appreciates lots of petting and lap time. He follows his people around the house and likes to settle down nearby, being close at hand. He is a wonderful, attentive companion.

Smokey lived on a farm where life had become a little too stressful for him. Other cats, barking dogs, ferals and wildlife around the house made him uneasy. His owner felt that a quiet indoor home without any other pets would be the perfect place for him.
Smokey would be a great companion for someone who is home a lot and who would love a cat who is personable and wants to be close to his human/s. He enjoys lounging on a sunny windowsill or in front of a wood stove, and exploring interesting spaces in the house. But his main joy in life is to be attentive to his humans, and having a nice snuggle time.

Kingdom Animal Shelter is not a "same day" adoption shelter. To adopt from Kingdom Animal Shelter:
Complete an adoption application and authorization for release of information form and bring them to the Shelter during adoption hours or email them to adoptions@kingdomanimalshelter.com or mail them in to P.O. Box 462, St. Johnsbury, VT 05819. The application and release of information forms are available at http://www.kingdomanimalshelter.com/available-cats.html or you can pick them up from the shelter during adoption hours.
An adoption counselor will review your application, contact 1-2 personal references and contact your veterinarian for a reference. Additionally, if you are a renter, we will contact your landlord for permission to have an animal in the household.
Please allow at least 3 business days for the process to be completed.
After the review is complete, the adoption counselor will contact you, generally by e mail or by phone.
You will be notified if your application is approved or declined.
If the application is approved, you will work with the adoption counselor to work out a mutually agreed upon time and date for you to take your cat home.
