My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

About me: Cleo is a sweet and friendly two year old Dachshund girl who came to our rescue from a high kill shelter in Georgia where she was brought in as a stray. When found Cleo had older puppies with her so the women thought that Cleo may be pregnant again. Since she could not afford to care for another litter of puppies she turned Cleo into the GA shelter. Not knowing for sure if Cleo was pregnant she was scheduled to be euthanized, as most shelters do not allow litters to be born at their facilities. When we took Cleo in she does not appear to be pregnant, but because this is the busy time for vet's they could not get her in to spay her until September 7th.

Today, Cleo is in a foster home with other canines, of all ages and sizes, and does not have a problem with any of them. She is at first timid of new people, but quickly warms up to you once she has gained your trust.

What a perfect home would have: The ideal home for Cleo would be an individual or family looking for a low energy companion, as it is typical of Dachshunds to be very low energy. Another canine in the home is not required but if one were to be, it would need to be a low energy, non aggressive canine as that is how Cleo is. Cleo would make a good apartment pet because of her size and her energy level, and would do just fine with leash walking.
