My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET ARCHIE!!! ARCHIE is 3 yrs old, 17 lbs and he is a chihuahua mix. He is very loving and energetic. He can be a bit snippy with strangers and new people.... a bit fearful initially, but warms up as he learns to trust.

He's already kennel trained and housebroken! He is a bit of a scaredy cat, so he needs a SECURE yard, and no younger kids (who may accidentally open up a door). He is not a fan of car rides, he'd prefer to hang out at home with you. Archie is good on a leash and LOVES to go for walks. He does well with most dogs (is non-reactive), but doesn't really like other pups 'in his face', so he does require proper intros. He needs a home without cats. He would love a little dog buddy to play and do zoomies with!

Like many chihuahuas, Archie is the kind of dog who really bonds with his one person. He will be a great companion to someone.

Additional adoption info

All potential adopters will be required to complete our Adoption Application, read and sign our Adopting Policies and Procedures, and participate in a home visit by one of our adoption representatives. Our Adoption Application is located on our website: www.underdogaz.com.

We also have a mandatory two-week Foster With Intent to Adopt trial period for all animals in order to be certain the pet is a good fit for your family.

Our standard adoption fee for dogs is $200; puppies are $250.

Non-standard fees do sometimes apply. Puppies younger than six months may have a higher fee. Designer dogs, purebreds, and other toy type breeds may also have higher adoption fees than the standard $200.

We do, however, have discounted fees for dogs that are seniors, a pair of dogs adopted together, or cats. If you are a veteran or an active duty service member, please ask about our partnership with Pets For Patriots.

All Underdog pets are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped prior to adoption.

We are a 501c3 non profit, your donations save lives and are 100% tax deductible.

Underdog Rescue of Az is an all volunteer organization dedicated to the rescuing and re-homing of abandoned and/or abused dogs.

We are a foster-based rescue, and do not maintain a physical base of operations. All of our animals are placed with loving, caring safe foster families until they are adopted. We are also an "All Breed" rescue, and do not discriminate based on breed, age, size, etc.

Underdog's mission also includes educating the public on the issue of animal welfare. We strive to promote shelter reform, spay and neuter education and emergency rescue information & assistance.
