My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dorothy is a sweet shy girl who can be playful and energetic, but more than anything she likes to curl up next to you on a sofa. She is believed to be around five years old. She loves an occasional treat which makes her a pushover to train to her new surroundings. I rescued Dorothy from the animal shelter where she was on the focus list for euthanasia. I originally fostered but circumstances led me to adopt and rehome. I have four dogs and as much as I love her and would love to keep her forever it's just not possible, but I am committed to helping her find the perfect home. She is so sweet and loving. That is what she deserves. Dorothy is very shy at first. When I visited her at the shelter she wouldn't let me near her. I took a chance and took her home where she immediately became one of the most sweet and lovable dogs I've ever had. I don't let her nose to nose with my dogs, so it's been a lot of work, But I still enjoy having her here. She is a joy to have around. Dorothy deserves a home where she can be Queen of the house, and she could never get that here. A back yard would be nice for her to run in but more than anything she loves to curl up next to you on a sofa. Oh, and if you have a recliner be careful, she will try to jump in your lap. She wants to be a 70-pound lap dog. As long as she has someone to love she would be happy in any setting including an apartment. Dorothy is housetrained and crate trained and is great on a leash. She stays right beside you and the leash just dangles. Dorothy is shy around other dogs so it would probably be best for her to be in a one dog home. I haven't seen her around children so I can't say how she'd be with children. If you are interested in giving Dorothy her forever home I would love to meet with you share more of her story.

Dorothy is participating in The Love Pit's iRehome program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster. All behavior and medical information is provided by their caretaker, and TLP encourages all adopters to verify the information with their caretaker prior to adoption.

Additional adoption info

Adopting from The Love Pit means gaining a family member. It means gaining a network of pit bull advocates, ready to support you and provide you with all of the resources we can. Most importantly, adopting from The Love Pit saves lives. When you adopt, you're saving the life of your own dog, opening space in their foster home for another shelter dog in need, and creating space in the shelter kennel for a dog whose life would have otherwise been on the line. Your thanks for all the good you've done? Lots of love and pit bull kisses to enjoy for years to come.

Go meet their pets

We have monthly adoption events at different locations in Dallas and Fort Worth which are announced on our social media pages and will also be posted on our website.

We will also set up an appointment with you to meet the dog of your choosing.
