My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Maggie the Brave, may be a tiny 10-year-old Yorkie, but she's packed with love and resilience. This sweet girl has been through a lot, with glaucoma in one eye, a bent ear from chronic infections, and even a magical fifth fang! Despite her rough past, Maggie just wants to find a calm, patient home where she can feel safe and loved. She's nervous at first, maintaining her "6-foot perimeter before she lets you pick her up, but once she's comfortable, she's all snuggles. Maggie loves to curl up with her human or her doggy pals, sunbathe, and explore the yard, especially when she's rocking one of her cozy sweatshirts on colder days.

She's a gentle soul who never growls and rarely barks, though she can be bullied by more energetic dogs. Maggie adores other dogs, preferring the company of older, calmer companions. She loves to cuddle with her foster siblings, always happy to share the couch. Potty training is still a work in progress-she's about 80% there, but she needs a routine to help avoid accidents, as she sometimes mistakes puppy pads for a cozy bed. She's too small to navigate stairs or jump off furniture, so she'll need someone to help her up and down.

Maggie has a few signature moves that'll melt your heart-her adorable head tilt and impressive "down dog yoga pose are fan favorites. She's also a pro at snuggling her forehead into yours for extra love. Though she shakes in the car, she gets braver after a few minutes. With her sweet, gentle nature and desire to be close, Maggie is ready to give all the love she has to someone who can give her the safe, loving home she deserves.

* Thank you for your interest in adopting a dog from Little Dog Rescue. Our dogs come from a variety of sources and backgrounds. They are all in need of adopters that have patience, an understanding of where these dogs have come from, and that there will be an adjustment time when they transition into their forever home. This can include learning basic commands, walking on leash and potty training. Some dogs will pick up on your routine and expectations faster than others. Potty accidents will happen. We find that positive reinforcement, consistency, and routine from the adopter achieves the best results. We are a small, all volunteers team and give 100% of our efforts towards doing right by these pups. We are often juggling many responsibilities at the same time and do our very best to process inquiries and applications in a timely manner. We do prioritize inquiries that have a submitted application on file through the Little Dog Rescue website. We do our best to accurately assign breed designations, however we are unable to guarantee 100% accuracy. Sometimes we only have the dogs appearance to go on. Our adoption fees are thoughtfully considered. The adoption fee is not a purchase price for the dog. It is a fee that is designed to support the overall work of our rescue. Highly desirable dogs and puppies are intentionally listed with a higher adoption fee. This is done to help offset the enormous medical expenses we incur when taking in older pups and special needs medical dogs whose adoption fees do not come close to covering their expenses. In addition, the vast majority of our dogs are brought in from out of state and incur transport fees along with their medical and acquisition costs. We ask that you take all of these things into consideration, and we look forward to finding a great match for your family.
