My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Elly May, a charming 6-month-old mixed breed, was discovered alongside her traveling partner on Belcher Gap Road. Despite the uncertainty of her journey, Elly May's young age and resilient spirit shine through. Mixed breeds often bring together the best traits of various breeds, making her a unique and special companion. Her story serves as a reminder of the many animals in need of care and love, and highlights the importance of community in ensuring their safety and well-being. As Elly May embarks on the next chapter of her life, she carries with her the hope of finding a forever home filled with warmth and affection.

More about this shelter

A not-for-profit organization, Monroe County Friends of Animals help the County by raising funds to build a new facility for our animals. It is called the Eastbourne Animal Center and has now replaced the old Monroe County Animal Shelter. They provide volunteers, fundraising events, grant writing and more. There is always a need for more volunteers. With a small budget, donations are a welcome necessity. We have developed educational programs to promote spay/neuter and humane care of all animals.
