My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Special K! A cat with full of love despite humans having failed her in the past.

K came to rescue after she was hit by a car and left with no help. After a few months of TLC she has healed and is learning how to be an inside cat. She does need a calm and peaceful home where she can feel safe and loved. A home with someone who is willing to put in the effort to bring her out of her shell even more.

Special K is a bit shy, but don't let that fool you. Once she gets to know you, her loyalty knows no bounds. Once she decides you’re her person, she loves to get pets, and will meow for you when she wants more attention. One you start scratching under her chin the purrs are never ending!!

She loves any type of covered cat bed and her favorite spot to take a nap is in her cat tree.

She also has a soft spot for treats, which she enjoys with relish. Her weakness is Churus!

Special K remains a friendly and gentle soul, displaying a mellow demeanor that's simply irresistible. Her foster family has loved watching her recover and blossom into the wonderful house panther she is.

Special K isn't just a cat; she's a companion who will bring warmth and comfort to your life. If you're looking for a faithful friend who will love you unconditionally, Special K is the cat for you.

Special K is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting her, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org.

Adoption fees are as follows: $155 for a single cat or kitten, $195 for a pair of cats or kittens. When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment.

Additional adoption info

AHSEM treats every adoption as "foster to adopt" This means that the first two weeks in which you have the cat is the "foster period." We do our best to ensure the right match for all involved and want to give the cat(s) time to decompress and adapt to their new environment. However, we realize sometimes things don't work out as expected. Therefore, during that two-week period, if something doesn’t work out you can bring the cat back. We will always take our cats back even after the "foster to adopt" period. We would hate to see them end up at a kill shelter, abandoned, or any other unsafe situation.
