My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Animal Profile: Mark Anthony, Cleo and Alexander were born in March of this year in the middle of nowhere, Oklahoma. Sadly, they were on a property tied to trees with only barrels for shelter in the sweltering heat. Our rescue partners at Furry Freight were alerted to their conditions and reached out to see if we could help and we had to say yes! He is social, happy and so eager to bond with a family of his own.

Foster Update: Marc Anthony arrived very scared and reactive of new people, especially children. We're not sure why he was this way -- perhaps he was taunted while tied out -- but he has spent the last three weeks in a foster home with three little kids (5, 2.5, 1) in order to desensitize him and we are happy to report that he now associates the little ones in his foster home with yummy treats, and actively seeks their pets! We are hoping for a home where he can continue to get exposure to respectful children so he can outgrow this fear. This little pup is adventurous and loves to romp with other dogs, and has done well playing with dogs of a variety of sizes in his foster home. He is easy-going with meeting new adults and a little timid with new dogs at first but is quick to play. He is now house-trained and crate-trained, though he does some big FOMO barking when the other dogs are playing and he is crated, or when people come to the home. He has shown a penchant for crittering in the yard, and may not be well suited for a home with cats, but would probably be excellent at Barn Hunt! We are seeking a family with large breed experience committing to his training and helping him continue to build his confidence. He would do best with another confident dog in the home but this is not a requirement.

Adopter Profile:

  • Dog experience required / large breed experience preferred
  • Commitment to ongoing socialization and training required
  • No cats preferred (cat evaluation can be completed upon request)
  • Fenced yard required
