Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Dinero entered Lancaster Shelter as a stray, and after he wasn't claimed, he soon became at risk for euthanization. So, on August 10th. volunteers made the trip to rescue him and bring him to Frosted Faces.
Dinero is 9 years old, weighs 52 lbs., and has a sweet and friendly personality. He does well with others dogs, both in a shared kennel at the shelter and in play groups on-site at FFF. He is an adorable short lovebug who gives lots of kisses, including to his dog friends! Dinero is not as friendly towards felines, however, and needs to live in a cat-free home.
This handsome guy went on an extended Frosted Fling, so we could learn what he is like in a home environment. His Fling Mom reports:
"We loved having Dinero as a house guest! He is a Frosted Faker (acts much younger than his age) with plenty of energy who also loves to snuggle. He LOVES being petted! Dinero knows "sit" and "down" and is getting pretty good "stay". (See video.)
Dinero is house-trained and crate-trained. He doesn't show any signs of separation anxiety when home alone. He can go overnight from 10p to 7am without any accidents. In the morning, he goes straight outside to do his business and is then excited for his morning walk and breakfast.
Dinero would love a jogging buddy! He will walk on a loose leash if you can keep up...his natural cadence is a speedwalk or slow jog pace. We are currently walking about 1.5 miles at a time, twice a day. If I have my resident dog w me, she makes us stop several times just to sniff. When Dinero is solo, he keeps it movin'!
Dinero is not interested playing with toys, but he will chew a tough ball or a rubber bone. He tilts his head when he hears a plush squeaky toy, but still doesn't chase it or chew it, much to the dismay of our resident dog. They have had little play sessions. Our dog likes to "throw her weight around", but Dinero holds his own, and then they both lay down afterwards for a snooze.
Dinero got to go paddle boarding with me at SUP Pups this week. As usual, he was up for the adventure and did great! He took me for a quick "dip" in the water when I paddled a little too close to some seagulls squawking on a buoy, but I didn't mind and luckily had dressed for it. Once in the water, he showed off his strong swimming skills as he headed towards a navy raft that was doing some training nearby (maybe he'd been on a boat in a past life?) but once we got him back on the paddleboard, he settled between my legs and didn't go in again, just enjoyed the ride. If you're looking for a furry friend who's up for anything, Dinero's your boy!
One last note; my daughter says "Churro" would be a better name for him since he's sweet, the color of cinnamon with a sprinkle of white sugar on his face. Whatever you call him, he's pretty darn perfect for a pittie and ready for his next adventure. Could that be with you?"
If you are looking for a loving companion who will make you laugh, is house-trained, eats all his dinner, and lets you watch whatever you want on TV, this beefcake is for you.
To see if Dinero is the new best friend you've been looking for, stop by any day of the week between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM to meet him!
