My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lilly, a dog that's brimming with energy and curiosity. She's a playful spirit who loves to explore, always on the alert for something new to discover. Lilly's confidence shines through in her independent nature. She weighs 46 pounds and is excitable in the shelter, often jumping with excitement and playfully biting her leash. She thinks it's a toy. But at foster home, she was calm, easygoing and didn't do anything like that. She likes to run, chase other dogs and spend time with her chew toys. She behaved well with her finder's small dogs and the other dog (~55 lbs) at foster home. Lilly is also incredibly sweet and cuddly, always ready for a friendly pat or a cozy snuggle. She is leash trained and walking her is actually a joy and relaxation, as she is not excited to chase squirrels or cats, and is only interested in the scents.

Lilly is intelligent and food motivated, making her a joy to train. She knows basic commands like sit, come, stop and no. She is house trained - key is to let her out right after she eats. She indicates when she needs to go out by pacing around the room and going to the back door. But please be patient while she figures things out at your house. She is used to staying in a room for up to 4 hours during the day and at night, and is comfortable with that. She is also used to free roam of the house and slept on the couch or rug at night. Her favorite treats are fruits, especially banana and apple so be ready to give her a slice when you're having one! She'll wait and sit in anticipation. She's an alert watchdog and will boldly answer back to sounds to let you and others know that she's there. But she also gets easily surprised at noises or sudden movements, so go figure!

Lilly's vibrant personality would make any home brighter. Her playful energy, combined with her loving nature, makes her the perfect companion for those seeking a loyal friend. Adopt Lilly and experience the joy of her companionship. Please contact her foster, Ram at 281-202-9076 or CAPdogfoster@gmail.com for more details. (tw, rr, 09/13/2024)

More about this shelter

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
