Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Charlie was an owner surrender. He is 5 years old and 32 pounds. This sweet boy loves to find his place right next to his foster Mom on the couch and snuggle in under the throw. Charlie is a cuddler!
He also will lay in the other end of the couch with his blanket in his mouth, sometimes while watching out the window. House manners have been great with only two accidents during the first week. The doggy door is open during the day and Charlie uses it without problem. He does have some separation anxiety, which he expresses with yelping for a while after being left alone. He does not have full run of the house while alone but has shown no destructive behavior in the kitchen/ dining area that he is confined to. He sleeps on the bed with his foster Mom. He will stay in a crate but only with some whining in the middle of the night. He walks well on leash, and only really pulls when he sees a squirrel or bird but is manageable. He can get in and out of a car on his own, enjoys being in the car especially on trips to Starbucks!
He loves his toys, chews, and his sucking blanket, sometimes to the extent that he will growl if he thinks you want to take it away. You will have to use a highly desired treat to distract him to get something away from him. Charlie would not be a good fit for a home with small children.
He has a cowlick across the bridge of his nose which appears as a line over the bridge of his nose in photos. He is not a fan of bad weather. Storms make him shake, pant, and seek comfort, but he is inconsolable. He is not a high energy dog, but he does like going on walks and would also probably be up for some longer walks in the woods once it gets cooler. He is curious and can get into things but that just means dog proofing and not leaving food unguarded. He is trainable but will also be his own beagle unless you have treats and reinforce. His crying when left alone would not be good for apartment living. If Charlie sounds like a dog that would be a fit for your family, apply today to make this boy’s wish for a forever home come true!
