My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I am currently at Stafford Creek Corrections Center as part of the FREEDOM TAILS Board & Train Program from August 8 - October 31. This popular program pairs a duo of incarcerated individuals up with a PAWS of Grays Harbor pooch for 12 weeks. Each dog has a primary and secondary handler assigned to the same cell, giving the dog 24-hour care and attention to meet its needs. During their stay at SCCC, these dogs receive specialized training to prepare them for adoption to the public. At the end of their 12-week stay, they enjoy a special adoption ceremony with their new families to show off their skills as they start a new journey. Find out more at pawsgh.org/freedomtails.

Sparky the kid here, otherwise known as Sparkdog or just plain Sparky. I’ve been chillin like a villain over here at the lock up. It’s pretty cool, everyone treats me like royalty. I just love being petted or snuggled up close to my human. Speaking of humans, they are a curious sort. Like when I sniff the garbage or something they tell me to leave it and when I do they give me a pat, a good boy, and even a treat at times. They take one look into my eyes and they melt. They’re always saying how gentle and calm I am. I am not sure what that means to them, but to me it means pets, hugs, and kisses. I AM IN HEAVEN!!! I’m looking forward to meeting my forever humans. If you have other dogs I am your man, I mean dog. I love every single dog I meet, but at the end of the day what I really look forward to is a snuggle…and breakfast.

Sparky Out,
Woof woof

Sparky here!! I wanted to take this opportunity to reach out and officially let everyone know a little bit about me. I’m a sweet single puppy seeking love and companionship. My most favorite things are pets, hugs, and kisses. My absolute number 1 thing is a snuggle. Closeness with my human feels like heaven. I haven’t met a person I couldn’t love. I am a lovesick puppy for sure. If you choose me I’ll love you forever and I’ll be your loyal and faithful companion ’til the end of time. All you have to do is take one look into my big brown eyes and you’ll know it’s true. I am the most kind and gentle pup. I am lost without you!! Come and get me quick so we can start our lives together. There’s no time to wast.

Additional adoption info

Spay/neuter + rabies is included in our adoption fee, but may not be completed by time of adoption due to our limited access to veterinary appointments. We have local partners listed in your adoption contract that you can schedule an appointment with (and are paid by us) or we will reimburse for up to $100 for non-network veterinarians. Microchip, up-to-date vaccinations, flea treatment and dewormer are included.

Go meet their pets

Our public hours are Tuesday - Saturday 11 am - 4pm. Dog meets may be also scheduled on Sunday and Monday by appointment only. No appointment is needed to meet our cats during public hours.
Please note that appointments are highly recommended for dog meets due to limited staff availability, but we do accommodate walk-in visits whenever possible. Additionally, many of our dogs may be located off-site in foster homes and an appointment will be required to meet those pets. We do require a completed application prior to meeting pets in foster homes to preserve the valuable time of our foster families.

More about this shelter

PAWS finds new families for stray dogs and cats as well as owner surrendered pets. We also accept animals brought to us by concerned citizens and local animal control agencies and do our best to find them suitable homes. Our mission is to find homes and offer direct care for as many of these loveable pets as possible. PAWS attempts to prevent the birth of unwanted animals through education and spay/neuter programs.

PAWS of Grays Harbor is a strictly non-profit organization and we survive because of donations from our community. All of the animals we adopt out are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and treated for fleas. Sometimes, the animals we rescue require additional veterinary care. Without your donations, none of this would be possible. Thank you for your support, we couldn’t do it without you.
