My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jeff, now known as Luigi in his new foster home, has come such a long way. From being rescued out of a hoarding situation, underweight and requiring to be shaved to remove the matted fur and countless fleas and ticks, to learning to live inside a house with other dogs, people, kids, and cats - it is safe to say that Luigi has embraced the 2nd chance offered to him.

He doesn't have a mean bone in his body - he's shy and timid at first, requiring slow introductions, less pressure, and safe space to be allowed to retreat. (He loves having a crate to go to!) But he will work hard for treats, and he adores snuggles, positive affirmations, and butt scritches. He is currently living with two other dogs, two cats, and horses - he has lovely doggy social skills, he's respectful of the cats, and Luigi thinks that calm, respectful children are the bee's knees! He particularly loves the 11 yr old girl in his current foster home.

His coat is coming back beautifully, revealing him to be a stunning black tri. He's quick to pick up the habits of the home, down to how to signal when he needs to go outside and wait for the "ok" at meal times. He wants to be with the group and finds great pleasure in rolling in the grass. He does need to work on his recall and safety commands, so his new home will need to be committed to continuing his education and training to ensure his safety.

Details:

Needs a fence: Negotiable. New home must be able to ensure his safety until recall is consistent and a relationship is established.

Good with dogs: Yes!

Good with cats: Yes

Good with kids: Yes - kids must be able to respect that he needs time to warm up and how to be calm and quieter as he gets to know them.

All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com. All dogs have an adoption fee of $400 plus MN sales tax. We pride ourselves on matches that are awesome for both the dog and your family. Aussie Rescue of MN is here for support, advice and as a safety net for our dogs for the rest of their lives.
