My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*** Cali is at our PetSmart, Encinitas adoption center. ***

Black/orange/white calico, short hair, spayed female, born approx. 5/1/23, #19143

Cats: wants a friend
Dogs: unknown
Children: older or adult-only home

Cali was a neighborhood cat who one day showed up on a Good Samaritan's doorstep with her five very young kittens. The resident contacted The Rescue House about finding loving homes, and the family moved into foster care where Cali was able to raise her babies in safety. Now mom and kittens are all looking for their forever homes!

Cali is such a sweet girl who loves a comfy bed to lie in and a nice fishy-flavored treat. She is a little reserved at first but will quickly warm up to people who treat her nicely... Cali is a sucker for face and head scratches, and when you provide those she'll curl up next to you in no time. When you come home and are exchanging greetings, she'll roll on her back and trustingly show you her stomach. While she's a gentle-natured kitty, that doesn't mean Cali is quiet! Quite the opposite: she's a vocal girl who will definitely remind you when it's mealtime with plenty of meows while she rubs against your legs. It's sweet to "talk" with her. She wants two things in life: to eat and to be loved. Cali likes to sleep at your feet overnight, and she will stretch out on a fuzzy bed in the sunshine during the day... she's definitely a lounger. She is still transitioning from motherly duties into being her own cat, and thus is building up her playtime repertoire, but wand toys are a winner.

Cali demonstrably enjoys having feline companionship and would be happiest in a home with another welcoming cat... their presence is a comfort to her. We don't know her thoughts on dogs. Cali hasn't been around children in foster care, though since she can startle at sudden movements or loud noises we feel she would blend better into a calmer home without young or boisterous kids. A quiet adult home would be marvelous.

This mellow lady just wants to chill with you and enjoy lots of good conversation and cuddles. Will Cali be your darling companion?
