Oklahoma is drowning in beautiful, healthy, adoptable dogs that are getting euthanized. I am trying to save as many as possible by sending them to states where people treat animals better. We have frequent transport options to all the locations listed below. I have dozens of dogs myself and I work with several other rescues and shelters in the area so I can find pretty much anything. Just fill out the application below with as much detail as possible about what you're looking for and your living situation and I can send you suggestions or find what you're looking for.
Some dogs are posted here on Petfinder, some are posted on Facebook (www.facebook.com/desideratarescue)
There are so many dogs that aren't posted yet because it is quite time consuming and taking care of a lot of dogs and still rescuing other from death is a full time endeavor so I am making this 'catch-all' listing until I can catch up on posting everyone.
As mentioned, I work with other rescues and shelters so there are many more breeds but here's a selection of the dogs I have in my rescue already:
- border collie mixes young and puppy
- adult, young, and puppy husky mixes
- chocolate lab mix
- kelpie mix puppy and adult
- lab mix puppies and yellow/white lab mom
- plott hound young
- Heeler mix adult and puppy
- pit bull mix puppy, young, adult
- bulldog mix adult
- shepherd mixes young
- great pyrenees young
- chihuahua adult
- doodles young

All dogs are good with other dogs and have been tested with cats so I can tell you if they are good with cats or not.
Vetting: spayed/neutered (unless too small/young) microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 2 or 3 depending on age, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, heartworm tested if old enough (6 months and older), on monthly heartworm prevention, on monthly flea and tick prevention.
We have transport options from Oklahoma to:
- Washington State (Kennewick, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Seattle/Tacoma)
- Oregon (Portland and Springfield)
- Colorado (Ft Lupton)
- Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian)
- Utah (Ogden)
- Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie)
- Illinois (Vandalia)
- Indiana (Spiceland)
- Ohio (Columbus)
- Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh and Harrisburg)
- New York (Buffalo and Albany)
- Connecticut (Enfield)
Adoption fees vary from $475 to $550 and INCLUDE all vetting listed above as well as the $250 cost of transport from Oklahoma.
Dogs have to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations above. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take them in or they will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found.

More about this rescue
Oklahoma Licensed Rescue Number 95
Oklahoma is a bad place for animals. It's the only state that saw an increase in shelter euthanasia rates in 2019. 2020 probably didn't look any different. Strays everywhere, people dumping dogs in the country to fend for themselves, litters of puppies and kittens because people are too cheap or too lazy to fix their pets.
We help these poor souls and find them loving homes in northern states.
