My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hailey is a sweet senior Shih Tzu, guessed to be around 8 yrs old, and 14 lbs. She is very quiet and well behaved. Unfortunately, her owner fell on hard times and gave her up to our Rescue. Hailey is mostly deaf but she gets around the house really well. She would do best in a home where she does not have to go up and down a lot of stairs. This sweet angel is so brave and adjusting well to her foster home where she is with another small dog and a cat. She loves going on walks in the neighborhood. She would do well in a quiet home with someone who can give her the love and comfort she deserves and just wants a sweet pup to keep them company. She is so precious!

To submit an application, you will need to create an AnimalsFirst account. Please write down the username and password that you create.

Home Check

Home visits are being done virtually due to Covid.

3.
Meet the Pet

The majority of our dogs are in foster homes along the front range. Fosters will contact you to schedule a meeting with you and your dog.

4.
Sign Adoption Contract

Contracts will be signed through your AnimalsFirst account. Please have your login information prior to meeting the dog.

5.
Pay Fee

Payment will be made through your AnimalsFirst account. Please have your login information prior to meeting the dog.

6.
Take the Pet Home

Don't forget an adoption picture! We like to post adoption pictures to our Facebook and Instagram pages.

Go meet their pets

Over 75% of our dogs are in foster homes along the front range. The foster will get in touch to schedule meetings for their foster dog. Meetings will happen in/near their homes since that is where the dog is the most comfortable. We do want you to bring family members (human and dog) to the meeting! Dogs who are currently at our Windsor facility will have meetings there and a volunteer will reach out to schedule those meetings with you. Please be aware that we do not place our dogs on a first come, first served basis, but rather a best-fit placement. Never fear, applications are valid for a year so if the first dog you meet isn't a good fit, we will have plenty of time to find one that is.
