Meet Freeway, a remarkable cat waiting patiently for her forever home. Once found abandoned in a small dog crate on the side of I-95, Freeway was rescued alongside her kittens, who have all since found loving families. Now, it's her turn to find a place where she truly belongs. Despite her challenging past, she has shown incredible resilience, slowly learning to trust those around her. In the cage room, she enjoys lounging in the cat towers. Although she is still a bit unsure about accepting love and attention, she is making progress, allowing the staff to offer her occasional slow pets-a testament to her growing comfort and trust.
One of Freeway's favorite pastimes is playing with toys. Whether it's batting at a feather wand or pouncing on a ball, she finds joy in the simple pleasures of play. This playful spirit shines through, reminding everyone of the vibrant personality that lies within her.
Freeway is searching for a home that understands her journey-a place where she can continue to grow and thrive. An environment filled with patience, love, and understanding will allow her to blossom into the affectionate companion she has the potential to be. With time, she hopes to fully embrace the love that surrounds her, transforming from a cautious observer into a cherished family member.
If you're looking to welcome a resilient and loving cat into your home, Freeway could be the perfect match. With the right support and nurturing, she is ready to embark on the next chapter of her life-one filled with love, laughter, and the joy of belonging.

More about this shelter
The SPCA was founded in 1979 to provide humane services to animals located in the county, including the prevention of cruelty to animals, the providing of humane care and treatment for all animals needing protection, seeking suitable homes for animals without owners, educating the public on humane animal treatment and promoting the need for spay/neutering of domestic pet animals.
Over the past 30 years, the organization has grown through the consistent efforts of the volunteers in the community and the caring donors who provided the funding to allow us to open our Veterinary Clinic and Adoption Center at 455 Cheney Highway in Titusville. This facility performed over 5,000 spays/neuters during our 2008 fiscal year while adopting out nearly 800 animals from our no-kill shelter. Additionally, we made our clinic available to the Space Coast Feline Network on six Sundays throughout the year allowing them to spay/neuter nearly 400 feral cats.
Our future goals include improving our animal care capabilities through better diagnostic equipment for our veterinarians and improving the physical space for animal care through expansions or additions to our existing facilities. Our new adoption center at 6035 Sisson road has a great atmosphere for our animals and our adopters. Our Thrift Stores on US 1 in Titusville and SR 3 in Merritt Island provide sources of revenue that help us to maintain adoption and clinic pricing at the lowest possible levels. Thanks to our generous donors and volunteers, the Thrift Stores continue to operate profitably and that profit is used to assist in funding the Adoption Center and Clinic.
