AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - EMERY
BREED - Maltese mix
SIZE - 15 - 20 pounds
AGE - 2-3 years
GENDER - Male
MEDICAL CONCERNS - None known
BEHAVIOR CONCERNS - None known
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS - Emery is a precious little fellow who has stolen our hearts! He came to us recently from a high kill NC shelter where he had been found as a stray. Emery appears to be a designer dog - one of those mixes that people put together to come up with something unique. Given his color, size, shape and personality, we are quite sure he is a Maltese mix, soft and silky, but with longer legs than one would expect of a Maltese. We believe Emery is 2-3 years old, and likely will still be less than 20 pounds when he gets to a healthier weight. Emery loves people and loves being by your side. He is also a bit of a Houdini - looking for every opportunity to find an escape, and that could be from his time as a stray foraging for food and comfort. Emery is kind to people and other small dogs, and will likely integrate well into just about any family. He is in good health, neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. We are seeking a home for Emery with an active adopter who has the ability to work from home or be at home the majority of the day to spend time with him. A home without larger pets and with a fenced, secure yard will give him a secure place to run and play. Emery is not well suited to small children or very small dogs who could be upset by his enthusiasm, but will fit nicely into many other homes.
Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Adopt a Pet inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of Emery and with our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and your family to meet Emery at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting him and determining that he matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner. More information on our website at www.carerva.com.
