My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Unlike many of the dogs that come into rescue, Little Bear came from a home where he was dearly loved. Unfortunately, his owner suffered a catastrophic medical event that forced him into a nursing home and left Little Bear homeless. He came to an MWCR foster home where he has been the perfect houseguest.

Little Bear is about four years old and weighs an appropriate 50 pounds. He appears to be larger than he is because he has a very full, beautifully marked coat which was in need of some attention when he arrived. He has been very patient while his foster mom combs through the rough areas and if she pulls too hard, he gives a little yip, but never growls or snaps.

Little Bear is fully housetrained and knows several commands including “sit,” “down” and “shake.” He is good on his leash and likes to go for car rides where he is a calm, well mannered passenger. He has probably been fed from the table because he likes human food and will beg when his people are eating. His foster family is working to break him of this habit, but he can be hard to resist when he gives them that sweet, pleading look.

Little Bear lived his life as an only dog, so he doesn’t appear to know how to “play” with other canines. He is extremely friendly, however, and gets along well with the other dogs at his foster home. He also is good with the resident cats. His foster home does not include children, but Bear is such a gentle, loving boy that it is hard to imagine that he wouldn’t be good with children.

Little Bear is one of those happy, easy going dogs that would fit well into almost any home. He has lived as an “only” dog, but also gets along fine with other canines, cats and probably gentle children. It is easy to see why his former owner loved this guy so much. When Little Bear gazes at you with his big brown eyes and gives you his happy, welcoming smile, it is impossible not to love him.
