Meet Mater, a 2-year-old dachshund with a heart of gold. His story is one of resilience and hope.
Mater was adopted as a puppy in January 2023, but his life took an unexpected turn when he was returned to us in June due to no fault of his own. He was scared, unsure, and faced new people and walls daily. Despite this, we showered him with unconditional love until he was adopted again a month later.
However, Mater's second adoption was short-lived. He struggled to connect with the adopter's spouse and stood his ground against their 60lb resident dog, showing a fierce determination. Unfortunately, this led to his return to us once more.
Now, Mater thrives in his foster home, but his experiences have left emotional scars. We believe his behavior stems from the unknown, stress, worry, and fear. He's been passed around, and his sense of security has been shaken.
