My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Mai Tai! Sweet, snuggly, spunky and silly! This girl loves swimming, playing with toys, and big hugs. Sooo smart, super trainable and a fast learner. Mai Tai is a gorgeous, fun, adorable puppy that will grow into such a good dog with the proper love, care and training.

She is currently about 25 pounds, about 5 months old, and we think she may be a Husky/Doberman mix, but with rescue it’s always a guess!

Fall in love with Mai Tai here: https://youtu.be/LWV0Bf-ZZwU?si=hIJzrslVJO30YK4o

The first thing you will notice about Mai Tai is her amazing eyes – they just pop out at you! Those gorgeous blue eyes really stand out against her black and brown colouring, and this charming girl uses them so expressively! You won’t be able to resist her plaintive looks begging for chest scratches and belly rubs (nor should you, lol).

Mai Tai loves to romp and play (hello puppy!) and loves to do so with her puppy siblings. She comes from a litter of 8, so she knows the doggy interaction ropes well. Here at the rescue, Mai Tai regularly plays with dogs of all ages and sizes, and she’s always a fun time for the other dogs! She is so friendly and loving with people and kids of all ages – everyone she meets poses an opportunity to play or snuggle in Mai Tai’s world! She’s also super tolerant, she lets us pick her up and pose her for photos- she’s such a great dog.

We have to insist that Mai Tai have a plethora of toys – she favours the soft stuffies with squeakers, but she’s an equal opportunity toy lover and will enjoy them all. (We not-so-secretly predict that Mai Tai will perform careful and delicate squeaky surgery on all her toys – squeak-ectomies, if you will, and would love for you to let us know if this is accurate!?) Mai Tai loves to play tug of war with you, and will bring toys to your feet, just to help you out. We love a kind and considerate puppy dog, lol. Mai Tai also LOVES water, she’s all about pool time! Get this girl a sun lounger and enjoy every summer together.

Mai Tai was introduced to our resident kitty and though she was curious at first, one kitty paw bump on the nose and she immediately respected his personal space. With continued training and supervised interactions, there is a great potential for a home with a kitty cat.

Mai Tai is still young so she will need a family that can commit to training, socialization and all the dedication puppyhood requires. Her new family will need to continue with potty and crate training and daily exercise. We require a commitment from adoptive families to crate train their new puppy. When old enough, they will be perfect to go on walks and show off around your neighborhood. Mai Tai is already well on her way to being a great dog, she’s already learning her leash manners, and she doesn’t have accidents inside the house here at the rescue. With TLC, this girl will grow into SUCH an amazing dog. She would make an excellent family dog, or a great little wing-woman for a young person looking to meet new friends at the dog park. Mai Tai isn’t too picky about her forever family, she just hopes to find it soon! This sweet girl has been in rescue, waiting for her forever family, for her entire life.

You will be guaranteed to get lots of kisses in return from your new best friend!

Your adoption fee is considered a donation towards actual costs.

Why adopt from Three Little Pitties?

The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it!

Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be!

It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks:

• 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.)
• A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week)
• One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan
• 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan
• Coupons for a fun visit to Petco
• Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!

We celebrated our 6 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 12,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes.
