Maxwell & Chris Hello again! We`re b-a-a-c-k! You may recall we were at the HSHC in 2018. Chris was 4, and I was 7. The only reason we were up for adoption was that the daughter in the home was allergic. We were adopted one month later and lived with our owner for 6 years. Now we`ve been surrendered as our owner is moving. We have always lived together and are very supportive of each other. I, Maxwell, am nearly 13 years old, and my bro is almost 10. I weigh 18.4 pounds, and Chris is 12.4 pounds. Although we were told years ago to lose weight, we haven`t managed to. Our hobbies now include walking from the bed to the litterbox, settling into a cozy bed for a snooze, and enjoying the room service that HSHC offers. Wearing a solid black coat, Chris has always been playful and sassy. I am a vision of black and white, friendly and affectionate. Unfortunately, our owner had our front paws declawed, a painful procedure with lifelong consequences. Soft, fine-grained cat litter can make using the litterbox less painful. Also, to make moving and settling in much more manageable, give us a quiet, isolated area (like a spare bedroom or bathroom) where we can decompress and relax. We may need more time in this place than you expect. We would feel best with older kids who understand how scary lots of noise, chasing, and pulling on tails can be for a cat. I`d sure appreciate any dieting tips you may have; we know losing weight is an important goal. Hope to see you soon; love from Maxwell & Chris 8-21-24

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
