Mahina is an Australian Shepherd/Husky mix and an athletic young female with lots of love to give! She is affectionate, playful, curious, loyal and smart. She loves to make new doggy friends and get plenty of exercise. Mahina is looking for a family that can give her the love and attention that she deserves. If you're looking for a furry friend to take on long walks in the park, then Mahina is the dog for you! Her ideal home will have a yard and she won't be left alone often. In her prior foster home, Mahina's best friend was the couple's 2 year old daughter. Mahina is slow to warm with adults. She may need a day or two to warm up to her new home. Your patience will be rewarded, as her personality shines. Because we want to make sure there is a perfect match between our animal's personalities and the potential adopter's needs, interests and life-style, we carefully review the adoption application the potential adopter has completed. Once the application is reviewed, the candidate is welcome to visit the animals they are interested in meeting. And, if there is an interest, we do a home visit. After that, there is an adoption fee and then an adoption contract. The entire process takes about a day.

More about this rescue

We take in animals that have been abandoned, turned in by owners for various reasons, and animals off the streets. Once we get the animals, they are taken to the vet for an initial exam, spayed/neutered, vaccinated and given any other needed treatment. We have dogs, cats and ducks, but would take in other types of animals if needed. Our mission is to greatly reduce the homeless pet population in San Diego County and to provide education regarding the proper care and treatment of animals as well as the significant benefits received as a result of having animals. Why do we do it? Because we love animals and we appreciate the difference they can make in people's lives. We are a small rescue and in order to expand our ability to help, could really use some dedicated volunteers as well as donations, so please consider helping out.
