Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Harley was adopted by her former owner as a kitten. She thought she was in her forever home and cherished. She had another cat in the home who became her surrogate mom. Her best friend.
Her owner had a family soon after the adoption and the cats became a low priority. Harley's only friend in the world died, leaving her ignored and alone. By the time Harley's owner decided to get rid of her, they admitted Harley hadn't even been touched in years. She'd been kept in the basement alone.
It took volunteers weeks to gain Harley's trust, but as you can see in her pictures, Harley is learning that people are worth taking a chance on.
She is 8 years old now and looking for the right person. Someone able to help her continue to trust. Someone who won't betray her.
* AGE: 8 years old
* TEMPERAMENT: Gentle and quiet
* Why are they at the shelter? Owner no longer wanted her
* Any Health issues? None known
* How are they with other cats? Dogs? loved her other cat
* Volunteer Comments?
"It's just not fair that a cat as gentle as Harley was neglected for so long." "We are so honored that she is opening up to us now."
Thank you for your interest in adopting a shelter cat!
NOW HOW DO I MEET OR ADOPT THIS CAT?
!. Go to our website at wacshelter.com.
2. Click on the "Apply To Adopt" button to submit an online adoption application.
** NOTE: You will get an email confirmation that we have received your
application. If you do not see this email appear upon submission, please check
your "spam" folder.
3. Your application will be processed and a volunteer adoption counselor will call or email with any questions.
** NOTE: If any questions are left unanswered or incomplete, the application
cannot be processed. A completely filled out application will take 1-3 days to
process! Missing or inaccurate answers may invalidate the application.
4. We will set up a time with you to meet the animal you've applied to adopt!
** NOTE: Our volunteers strive to make the best possible match once the application is accepted. Our goal is a fit that benefits both the cat and the home!
** We DO give preference to applicants with verifiable pet experience.
All cats are spayed/neutered, FeLV/FIV negative unless otherwise indicated.
All cats are up to date on age appropriate vaccinations.
All of our resident cats use their litter boxes unless otherwise indicated. Cats are naturally inclined to use a litter box.
Cat Fact: If a domestic cat is not using a litter box THEY ARE TRYING TO TELL YOU SOMETHING IS WRONG! It should never be ignored! Your cat is depending on you for help.
Our adoption fee for felines is $65.
That covers the cost of spay/neuter, FeLV/FIV test, deworming, flea prevention (if applicable) and vaccinations (if applicable).
We look forward to meeting you!
Please email us at wacvolunteers@gmail.com with any additional question
** NOTE: Be sure to check out our Facebook page at Wyandotte Animal Shelter (https://www.facebook.com/wacshelter/) for day to day updates on our cats and dogs. :)
