My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MAX

Available for Adoption

Hi everyone. Are you looking for a super sweet little guy who wants to hang with you 24/7? Then your search is over! I’m Max, another pooch rescued by CARE from a high-kill Texas shelter. While I’ve only been in my foster home a short time, I quickly let everyone know that I’m a total cuddle bug who thrives on human attention and is especially fond of children of all ages.

Not to brag (okay, that’s just what I’m doing, but isn’t that what bios are for?), but my foster mom says I’m a wonderful companion. I love walks and have excellent leash manners. I never chase birds, squirrels, or bunnies, preferring keep my nose to the ground and take in the smells of the great outdoors. I also enjoy going on car rides and like to assist with backyard gardening. Indoors, my favorite activities, aside cuddling up on any available lap, are playing fetch with my stuffed monkey and mealtime (I sit for treats).

You’ll enjoy introducing me to your friends, because after barking to announce their arrival, I immediately stop when the door opens and start wagging and schmoozing. One thing I have to admit, and it’s a bit embarrassing: beeps—like from the microwave, dishwasher, or phones/computers—as well as sirens and other street noises unsettle me. But I’m starting to get used to them and am reacting less every day. Also, I’m not that fond of other dogs.

My foster mom crosses the street, so that I don’t have to meet them, and I’d probably do best as an only pooch. As for the basics, I’m fully potty trained and don’t mind staying in my crate.I’m called Max, because even though I’m small, I’m filled to the max with love and kindness that I can’t wait to share with my forever person/family. I sure hope you’ll fill out an adoption application right away and schedule a meet and greet!

I have been neutered and microchipped and have had a full veterinary checkup and vaccines.  I am currently available for Foster to Adopt only as I will be undergoing a dental. For more information or if you would like to meet me, please fill out an adoption survey at carenorthshore.org/dog-foster-survey

Love and licks,

Max

Our fees include a full medical exam by a veterinarian. This includes a Feline Leukemia and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) test for cats, Rabies and Distemper Vaccines, deworming and Spay/Neuter. Dogs receive a Heartworm Check, Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper Vaccines, Canine Flu Vaccine, deworming, and Kennel Cough preventative. Our modest adoption fees do not cover the procedures and vet work that we provide the animals. We fundraise to make up the difference. Any ongoing medical needs that C.A.R.E. is aware of are explained fully, (including daily medicine costs), to the potential adopter, and become the responsibility of the adopter.
