Tootsie has been a fantastic house guest. She is so respectful, cuddly and affectionate with everyone in the home- including her fur foster sibling. She's incredibly playful, she walks, plays fetch, and loves to destroy stuffed animals but doesn't destroy things that aren't her toys.
When meeting Tootsie she warms up quickly and is great with everyone she meets. Her manners are off the charts and she shares everything from her toys to food. Miss Tootsie here is already spayed and cannot wait to join a forever family soon!

Individuals wishing to adopt an animal from our shelter must complete an adoption application and provide proof of home ownership or, if you are a renter, you must provide a copy of your lease or a notarized letter from your landlord stating pets are permitted. You must be at least 21 years of age to adopt any animal from our shelter. We reserve the right to refuse any adoption. In some instances, a home visit may be required. Our fees vary depending on the age and breed of the animal. Typically, a mix breed is $110.00 and a purebreed is $150.00 and up. There is also an altering charge of $85.00 for a male and $95.00 for a female. All animals receive vaccines, microchip identification, frontline treatments.

We are opened 7 days a week between the hours of 12:00-5:00pm for adoptions. No appt is necessary and we welcome prospective adopters to bring their current pet for a meet and greet with one of our orphans.
We hold offsite adoption events throughout the year. Please visit our Facebook page AHS-Newark Branch & our volunteer page, Friends of Associated Humane Newark Shelter.
