My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Rieka! She is around 4 years old and this sweet, resilient lady is looking for her forever family!

Rieka came to us about a year ago with an issue with her front leg. Testing determined she had cancer and her leg required amputation. She healed beautifully and hasn't let being three-legged slow her down at all! We're happy to share she has been in remission since!

She does require scans (radiographs/x-rays) every 3-4 months and bi-annual bloodwork to continue to check for it coming back. She was diagnosed with periarticular soft tissue sarcoma (STS) which has a fairly low (25%) chance of metastasis and has a survival rate of around 3 years.

Day to day Rieka lives life as a typical, happy doggo! She gets around great on three legs! She is a sweet, playful girl who is good with other dogs, big and small. She has done well around cats too. She loves to play with toys and other dogs but can tone it down when around her smaller friends. She can get vocal when playing with other dogs or her toys but it's all in good fun. She's been known to eat a stuffed or rope toy on a rare occasion (small pieces), so supervision with toys is best.

Rieka is very friendly and will enjoy couch snuggles but is also independent and doesn't need to be by your side 24/7. She is a good alert dog and will happily let you know when someone is at the front door. She is house and kennel trained and does best in a kennel when her people are away. She has been known to get a little curious with counters, so kenneling helps keep her nose out of things that aren't her business. She is great in the car and doesn't even need any help getting in! She doesn't take any medications other than allergy meds when she may need them and doesn't have any special dietary needs.

Rieka has so much love and joy to bring to a dog-loving family and we know there may be a family out there that has been looking for a furry family member just like her and can give her the care she needs.

If you think your family may be a good fit for this incredible girl, you can send inquiries to our adoptions team at muttmisfitsadoptions@gmail.com or apply to meet / adopt at www.muttmisfits.org/adoption-application

She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and preventatives, heartworm negative and microchipped.
