Meet SPANKY, the other half of our "long stay residents". While his brother Porky may be more reserved, Spanky is the social butterfly of this dynamic duo. With his playful and infectious enthusiasm, this 4-1/2 month old Black Mouth Cur mix exudes a happy-go-lucky charm that's impossible to resist.
Despite having spent his formative months in the confines of a shelter kennel, Spanky's spirit remains hopeful, his zest for life undimmed. The moment he sees a leash in hand, his eyes light up with excitement, for he knows his favorite activity - a joyful jaunt with a pal - is about to happen. And what a well-behaved walking partner, his excellent leash manners area testament to his intelligence. Spanky is a young pup full of potential, eagerly awaiting a forever family to shower him with the love and guidance he craves.
With his striking good looks - soulful "pretty eyes" and perpetual "happy face" - all it takes is one meeting with Spanky to see why he is poised to become the "bestest boy".... his irrepressible spirit and winning personality have already set him on that path. SPANKY is waiting and oh so ready to go home, meet him and see if it's yours!
Young male, Black Mouth Cur mix, No black mask like brother but still aDorAblE, ~30 lbs, Dog/people friendly, Outgoing, playful

More about this shelter
The Bastrop Animal Control organization became a reality in 1998. We've grown since then and continue to do so as Bastrop County grows. Currently, we have 3 separate buildings containing a total of 90 large indoor/outdoor kennels and 8 play yards. We have 30 indoor cat kennels. We also have a 3 room cattery, that enables cats to live together in colony type environments until they find their forever home. If you have ever worked with or adopted a shelter pet, you know just how much they crave the attention and love we and our volunteers can provide and their eternal gratitude when they find their forever home at last.
