My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Sir Peanuts (and I am Magnificent). I am from Minnesota.

From his foster: Meet Sir Peanuts! This little guy is ready for a big adventure with his forever family. Sir Peanuts is a young guy learning about lots of new things in his foster home. He's picking up the basics of crate training, pottying outside, and house manners. Given his young age he will need continued consistency and training to master them. Luckily he's very smart and food motivated and he's really enjoyed learning.

Peanut has been a VERY playful, active guy since arriving. He loves toys, chasing and wrestling his foster siblings, long walks and chewing on bones. He's not going to be a couch potato, maybe his new home will be interested in dog sports like agility, scent work or FastCat because he has the drive! He also loves attending doggy daycare where he's making so many new friends (dogs and people) and getting his energy out. He has no idea he's only about 10 lbs, he enjoys the company of any size of dog that will play. He also happily will play with cats, but if your cat DOESN'T like dogs he can become intent on chasing them! Once he's tired though, Peanut acts like a true lap dog and loves to snuggle.

His forever home should understand he hasn't been socialized to lots of things in the world yet. He can be a bit vocal (barking) and nervous when encountering something brand new. As he's settled into his foster home we have seen more of this behavior mainly directed at meeting new people (and men more specifically). He seems to really bond to one person strongly, and trusts that person to show him it's ok. I believe this trait is probably from having some Chihuahua in there, a familiarity with that type of breed would be helpful. Given he needs to learn new people are all awesome, we are suggesting no kids in the home as that typically means more people in and out of the house and sometimes it's hard for kids to understand when a dog is showing signs of being fearful or overwhelmed.

Go meet their pets

The Bond Between's goal is to not keep any animals at our rescue office. The majority of our animals are living in foster homes until they are adopted. Occasionally, animals are living in our rescue office that are in need of a foster home.

If you would like to meet an animal at our office who needs a foster, please reach out to inofficeanimals@thebondbetween.org and fill out our foster interest form at https://www.thebondbetween.org/foster

More about this rescue

The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.

We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.

You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
