Tonto is a young Belgian Malinois mix (DOB 2/13/23). He has been bounced around a few times in his young life and recently joined the rescue after a short stint at an auto garage. He is shy and lacking in life experience but very sweet.
Tonto previously lived with another dog and does well with the female pit bull in his foster home, but he can be leash reactive and needs a slow intro. You can read about introducing pets to a new animal in the "Two Week Shutdown" document on the resource section of our website.
He keeps his crate clean if let out regularly and sleeps in his crate a night. He will mark inside but has no problem wearing a belly band and redirects well if you catch him when he's about to lift his leg.
Tonto enjoys car rides and is an excellent running buddy. He was allowed to roam when he stayed at the auto garage, and he will wander off for an adventure if given the opportunity. Because of this, his ideal home is one with a fenced in yard.
He has done well with the cat and children in his foster home (ages 6, 8, and 10). Due to his shyness, he would do best in a home with dog savvy kids who can take things at his pace.
To adopt Tonto, apply through the website at www.companimals.org. He has been neutered and microchipped and is heartworm negative. Adoption donation $400. Working breed experience a plus!
