Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Howl was surrendered by her owner to the NYC Animal Care Center. She was surrendered with Onyx. (Onyx was also was in IPAW's care and has since been adopted out). Howl was not adapting well at the shelter and was just hours away of being euthanized. IPAW was able to save her. Howl is a sweet pup who loves to be by your side. She does well over night in a crate and is house trained, once she settles into the home she is good.
FOSTER NOTES:
*She needs slow introductions to dogs in the home. I had her separated by a gate from our resident female Labrador dog. The first week she would aggressively rush the gate towards the resident dog. After 10 days, she is now pals with our resident dog. They now spend the whole day together playing and snuggling together in the same room with no issues. They share toys with no issues.
*She is good in the crate.
*She is 90% house trained. She will go a week without an accident and then have an accident. I think this happens when our routine is thrown off or when it rains outside,
*Howl needs leash training. She will pull hard and will hard bark at dogs on walks/ dog reactive when she gets near dogs. After being on a walk for about 20 minutes when her energy settles down she seems to get less reactive.
*In the home, she is a complete mush. She just wants to be loved and loves to cuddle. She will chill and lay down by your feet. Se just wants to be by her people. She takes treats gently. She is very smart. I have been able to train her to sit and wait for me to put down her food bowl and wait for my permission to eat.
*She has met my 2 resident cats. She wags her tail wanting to play with them. She does not bark or growl with them so I feel Howl will do ok sharing a home with cats.
How is currently located in New York City. Transport may be coordinated.
We are seeking a foster takeover too! We also allow a foster to adopt scenario. Fill out the application on our website.
