My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet active and affectionate, 9-year-old Casey. Casey urgently needs to find a new home due to one-year-old twins in his current household. Casey’s current owners are overwhelmed with twin babies and Casey is looking for new people who have time and energy for him. Casey is a great size at only 35lbs and loves walks and hikes. He enjoys road trips, running errands and hanging out with his people. He’s been very good with kids over toddler age but does get nervous around the babies. A home with older kids is fine for him or a no kid household too. Casey is crate-trained and house-trained and not a chewer. He can be trusted out of his crate and quiet in the house- though he will make his presence known if someone comes to the door. Case is great on a leash and knows his basic commands. He loves people, loves to give kisses and is very approachable and loving! Casey loves multiple walks a day but is also content soaking up the sun on the front porch. He has not been around cats much so we’re not encouraging kitties. He listens and takes correction well and is food motivated so training is a breeze. We would like an adopter who is dog-experienced as we obviously want this to be Casey’s forever home. Ideally his new adopter is someone who likes having a companion with them many places they go and someone who's wants an exercise buddy and companion. He has not had a lot of dog socialization throughout his life. He has a few doggie friends that he is around a lot but seems to be fine when we walk him with others. He prefers dogs that are chill and just want to hang out and do their own thing and we will continue to work on his socialization. Ideally, he’d be ok with a no dog household too. Casey is neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. His is currently in the Tacoma area and available to meet. Casey’s current owners love him and want him to have a better life. “He's a great boy who still has the energy of a youngster. He will be an amazing companion to someone who's somewhat active and who likes spending time with their dog while they're out doing things. Casey loves going to department stores, breweries, parks - you name it - and he really does love being with people. He especially loves hanging out on the porch or deck, soaking up the sun. He doesn’t mind the weather and minds you well. Yes, he might bark, but that bark alerted us to a home intruder years ago and we likely owe him our lives for that. He's a good boy and he deserves a good home.” For more information, contact Pam at raincityrescue@gmail.com or to complete an application, go to: https://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/N1V88edh02ForIB30gCf2.

Additional adoption info

For our dogs, our process starts first with an adoption application. Our dog adoption application includes references, vet info, home photos and proof of home ownership or landlord contact. Our requirements vary per dog, but we look closely at activity level, yard, time away, previous pets, current pets etc.. During that time they may also have a home visit or long conversation (depending upon the situation of the dog, if warranted) with one of our professional trainers. We deliver the dogs with their quality food, treats, all vet records, training material, resources, etc. We encourage and often require additional training. We keep in communication with our fosters and adopters. We try to do the most to set everyone up to succeed. We are upfront about their commitment, training & responsibilities Adoption fees for our dogs and puppies range from $200 - $600 Great people are certainly out there for our dogs because we are having very good success. The cat adoption process is similar but not as involved. We have a shortened application process. At any time the animal can be returned to us if it doesn't work out. The adoption fees cover a portion of the expenses in spay/neuter, vet care, foster care and boarding for some dogs.

Go meet their pets

Our dogs are in foster care in Georgia and Western Washington while we vet, spay, neuter and get to know them. We do regular transports of dogs and puppies rescued from high kill shelters in Georgia. Please go to www.raincityrescue for more info and adoption application. We look forward to meeting you and finding a perfect match for your family.

More about this rescue

We are a small group of animal lovers who couldn’t “click off” email pleas any longer . We just started saying YES to dogs in need. We are not breed specific, but do love our Pits and Pit mixes who are always the last in the shelters and first in our hearts. We have connected with great trainers, super adopters, the best transporters and people within the rescue community to build a strong network to help these animals. But we are “DOING IT” and “LOVING IT”. Unlike others, we just jumped in and later decided to talk about it!! Keeping our "heads in the sand" did not work for this group of amazing "can-do" women.
