My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

John is a beautiful orange tabby with soft amber eyes and the cutest flame markings on his cheeks. He has a sweet baby face with chubby little cheeks. He’s thick and strong but is more of a lover than anything else.

John is an observer who waits his turn to play. He’s chill and laid back but confident enough to venture out on his own. He is the comforter to his siblings who want to snuggle him when they are tired. He likes to run and play with other cats as long as it’s not too crazy. He might be a good companion for an adult cat who doesn’t appreciate kitten energy.

With people, John is not shy or scared but he appreciates an introduction. After that he’s basically a baby who just lets you carry him around and cuddle him. He loves cheek and chin scratches and he will actually roll over to get his belly rubbed! He could make a good office cat for someone who works from home because he is happy to just hang out.

I don’t have young children but I think John would be good with kids. He’s not a fearful kind of cat and is pretty laid back. He’s easy to carry around and likes attention.

John really likes kicker toys and a little chase with the wand. He plays best one on one because he doesn’t like to compete for toys. He loves the cardboard scratcher and will choose that if available. He can often be found in the bathroom sink, looking out the window, sleeping up on a shelf, or cozy with a blanket in his carrier.

John would also be fine with a friendly dog. He isn’t afraid of my large dog but he isn’t interested in playing with her either. He’s indifferent about my smaller dog and would get along best with calmer pets.

John is going to grow into a big cuddly orange boy and will be a great companion or family cat.
IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.

Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adopt

All of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.

ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location.

Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transport

We understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.November 4, 2024, 11:33 am

More about this rescue

We're a home-based rescue, so there's always someone around to care for the dogs. Most of our dogs are allowed to roam the main yard (as long as they behave themselves), and we have several food and water stations throughout. Every evening, the dogs are tucked into our kennel building with soft bedding.

Our focus is family-friendly dogs who get along with everyone. Of course, we sometimes don't know a dog's temperament until we meet, but we work hard to ensure dogs are going to the right homes for them.

Mission Statement
To provide rescue, rehabilitation and new loving homes for dogs that have been living on the street, abused, abandoned and removed from high kill shelters.
