My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, I'm Oakey!

I am a handsome, young rabbit that appears as a rex mix. The staff here are still getting to know me, but volunteers and staff alike keep commenting on how sweet I am! People who have hung out with me have noted I am a little skittish when it comes to loud noises (who isn't?), but that I am a sweet fella who enjoys quiet pets. I would benefit from a home that plans to help me be the best bun I can be!

** I'm a volunteer favorite and here's why:
"One of the smaller rabbits but the biggest sweetheart. A little shy, but as you spend time he opens up really fast. Loves pets and tolerates being picked up very well. I'd adopt him if I didn't have cats."
"Oakey loves scritches, is good at being held, and has endless curiosity. He is as big as a shoe and loves playing in the tunnels. He would be a perfect companion for a household with a pre-teen. He likes listening to audio books."
"Oakey is the sweetest, gentlest little man. He likes scratches and cuddles and is very gentle."
"He is a very social little guy and seems to love pets and attention. He is very bold for his little size and loves to hang out and run around."
"After my shift, I checked in with Oakey for a minute to say hello, as usual, and we cuddled for nearly half an hour! He is the kindest most relaxed rabbit I've ever met, and his fur is like plush velvet. He stretched out on my shoulder almost immediately and set his little head down while getting endless scratches and pets. He is absolutely incredible. It was especially difficult to leave the shelter that day when I could just sit with him instead. His manners and demeanor are impeccable and he deserves a warm safe home." **

My adoption fee includes a certificate for a free vet exam.

I came into the shelter as a stray and the above information is based on my behavior seen while in the shelters care. Expect to learn more about me after adoption.

Thank you for taking time to learn a little about me! If you think we would be a good match, call (541) 689-1503 x117 and ask to meet me! I'm looking for my forever home and it could be with you!

More about this shelter

Greenhill Humane Society has been caring for animals in Lane County since 1944. We operate the only animal shelter within the Eugene/Springfield area. Our programs include animal adoptions; reuniting lost animals with their families; disaster response; crisis care boarding in situations of domestic violence, medical emergencies, and other crisis situations; spay/neuter for free roaming, un-owned community cats; a pet pantry; on-site volunteer opportunities; foster care and humane education.

Last year, we helped reunite or find new loving homes for 2,826 animals. In addition, we provided 469 cat spay/neuter surgeries to assist cat caregivers in reducing feral cat over-population.

Greenhill is a private non-profit and relies on donations for a majority of its budget. The generosity of our local community enables us to provide a high level of care to lost, abandoned, and neglected animals while at the same time helping pet owners in need.
