My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This little guy was brought in by their previous owner along with his siblings.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Hamsters are fun little animals who make good first pets for a family or who can sometimes be added to a home with other hamsters. Hamsters need to be kept inside and need a comfortable, spacious, dry and clean place to live. They are happiest in a quiet environment as they are easily spooked by loud and strange sounds. They are nocturnal which means they may not be out and about much during the day. They need a place to hide, called a nesting box, placed near their food and they need nesting material to build a nest in their box. Some hamsters get along well with other hamsters and others don't. We will talk to you about that. If you want a small, quiet pet who entertains themselves, a hamster might be for you. But, you can't leave it alone and ignore. In their own way, they are social and want attention from their humans. An outstretched finger is likely to get a little hamster kiss. They are cute and their antics will entertain you. Want to give a hamster a good home? If so, come and visit Paperclip and his siblings. All are waiting for their next home.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
